Beware you who routinely lose at the gross-out game; a somewhat graphic post follows.

A little over two months in, I have finally decided to stop drinking the water here, in any form, even when boiled, even when brushing teeth. A. insists that it's safe; that is one of his pet issues, actually, and he drinks water from the sink with great pomp, as if daring the E. coli to even try any funny stuff with him... But me: no more. After finally going to see a doctor today (who said "Never!"), I'm through. Too much tummy upset -- day after day -- and resulting dehydration, too many canker sores and gum irritation, greasy hair and angry skin. Rumors about what is in the water abound: antifreeze? Too much chlorine, too little? I've seen the pipes and that alone is worrying. And the smell, even after it's boiled, is just plan suspicious. And then there's the residue left over it the bathtub -- I hate to think the same film is lining my intestines. So no more. I gave it a shot, living like a Muscovite, and that's enough for me. A. can laugh and call me high maintenance, but so what.
