Moscow is a sheet of ice from one end to the other, as a daily cycle of melt/freeze is replayed... I have watched so many people, young and old, fall down ahead of me on the streets in recent days... it has begun to seem almost like a dance. I find I always make an exclamation of surprise when I fall, blurting "Whoops!" or "Oh!!!" as I slip to the ground, and sometimes "Ouch!" if I hit my knee or something -- but the Russians make not a sound. Women in furs just collapse and get up and keep walking, with a little silent brush-off... the elderly do not even whimper, and their faces do not change expression... it is so strange.
